Abstract:
This data set portrays the state and county boundaries of the US.  The data set was created by extracting county polygon features from the individual 1:2,000,000-scale County boundary Digital Line Graph (DLG) files produced by the U.S. Geological Survey.  These files were then merged into a single file. This data set was last revised in 2001.
Purpose:
These data are intended for geographic display and analysis at the national level, and for large regional areas.  The data should be displayed and analyzed at scales appropriate for 1:2,000,000-scale data.

For use with the GeoStac Database, this data set was compiled in order to simplify pesticide risk assesement and to provide a common data set for all stakeholders upon which to perform analysis.
